Designing Your Dream
So you want to have your dream guitar brought to life. Now what?
First you have to think about what style and features are right for you. Do you want to be the next Chet Atkins ? Chances are a solid bodied, Floyd Rosed, active pickup equipped, switch laden beast isn't going to do the job. Want to be the next Steve Vai? Perhaps the deep hollow bodied, Bigsby'd, P-90 laden jazzer is not for you. Start by thinking about your style and the sound your after. Wes Borland or Wes Montgomery? If Texas blues is your thing then go with single coil pickups in the neck and middle positions. If dropped 'd' chugging is your raison d'être then go with a humbucker in the bridge position. From there think about your other requirements. Do you need a light guitar you can wear all night without frequent trips to the chiropractor or would you rather sacrifice your spinal health to get that bottom end chunk? These are a few of the most basic things to think about when having an instrument built. From there you get into details like string spacing, control configuration and placement, finish options and what have you.
To get an idea of what your uber guitar will cost you, send us an e-mail and tell us your sonic requirements, what type of pickups and hardware you want (if you know), and any other bits you can think of and we will let you know what we think.
